ACDA Helping People to Get Involved
ACDA organised an Outreach Session in partnership with the Houses of Parliament Outreach Team on the 5th September 2009, in Ravidassia Community Centre in Hitchin. They covered some less known areas which could help us all at this time when lobbying is required if we are going to be successful in initiating change and getting caste as a protected characteristic into the Equality Bill.
It was a big success and many questions were raised from the session participants, all of which were handled professionally and sensitively. Here are some time slices:
The Vice Chair of ACDA delivered the first presentation, positioning the whole session, professionally and covered all the points well.
The session was delivered in an informal manner and questions were not kept to the end. Here a question was raised and an answer is being given.
The session was delivered by the Houses of Parliament Outreach Service and sought to provide a greater understanding of parliamentary procedure including how laws are made and the work of select committees. All of these areas and more were covered very comprehensively.
The thoughts were engaged and questions kept on coming during the breakout intervals; all of which demonstrated the value we were adding for the participants.
A good cooked lunch was provided and very much appreciated by all the participants.
